Joana Niemeyer, graphic designer In the Slaughtered Lamb pub in Farringdon - the city is the best place on the weekend as it's quiet and empty. They do perfect fish finger sandwiches that you can eat sitting on old leather sofas and then stay reading the paper all afternoon. Open House London is a great event - London opens its doors to anyone and you can see places like the Swiss Re Tower or Trellik Tower in Notting Hill. The best thing about it is that it's free!
What do you do to recreate Germany in the UK for yourself when you feel homesick?

Keeping some traditions alive always helps, such as Glühwein around Christmas and Zwiebelkuchen... I think food is the best reminder of your roots.
What is the best souvenir /gift to bring back from Germany for your British friends?

I always get asked to bring back Flips, Knoppers and Zimtsterne.
