What advice would you give a German tourist?

Skip the tower of London, go to Monmouth Cafe, escape on a day trip to Brighton, see absolutely all museums that London's got to offer, go to Sadler's Wells (instead of Mouse Trap), go on a boat trip from Greenwich to Parliament, wear a DFB (German football federation) shirt in a pub where they screen the next international football tournament (honestly!), and DO look to the right when you cross the street (or was it the left?). Try as much ethnic food as you can, go to Rules and, if you're daring, try haggis in Albannach near Trafalgar Square.

What´s on in London or the UK over the next few weeks which is a real 'must see' for you?

The degree shows 1 & 2 at the Royal College Of Art (next to the Royal Albert Hall & in Battersea): check it out to see the next lot of international talent in art, architecture & design. A George Shaw show at the South London Gallery starting at May 25 (while there, check out the Camberwell College Of Art's degree show). The Emirates Cup at Arsenal. The Fabian Seiz show at Josh Lilley Gallery. The Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy. The launch of our new permanent light installation at the V&A (from mid-June).

What’s your earliest UK memory?

Finding that gentleman who salvaged ALL our personal belongings and a metric ton of imported food & wine from our broken down car on the Hamburg -Harwich ferry (when it still existed). He dropped it off at Brunel University in Egham / Surrey after doing a two-hour detour. Meanwhile, we dropped off our broken car in Ipswich and took the train to start our studies there. That guy was the epitome of a gentleman and since then, we inherently trust the british.

What’s the most German place in the UK/in London for you?

Probably our rAndom International headquarters in Chelsea / Fulham; it's a safe haven of fully operational plumbing, good Schwarzbrot, Labskaus and Himmel & Erde (the latter sort of translates into heaven & hell)… if not, then it's probably wherever we meet up with Eva Rucki & Conny Freyer from Troika, with whom we used to share a pretty deutsches studio until January this year. Or some of the food stands at Borough Market. Or Flo's garden / Trystans roof terrace in Camberwell for BBQ's in summer.

Which is your favourite street or store for shopping?

It would have to be the King's Road now (as we've just moved here), but also the area east of Boundary St in E2 is rapidly developing into a really interesting shopping place with still-affordable stores like Speedie's in Redchurch St et al.
