German Day at Aston University

Why not organise your own Think German project?

There is no better way to experience a language than having contact with its native speakers. At a recent German Day held at Aston University, sixty Year 8 pupils were given this opportunity as they took part in some fun and interactive workshops delivered by German speakers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The event was organised by Routes into Languages West Midlands. It was designed to challenge stereotypes and to demonstrate the spread of the German language. It allowed pupils to experience another culture without even leaving their home city! As well as attending the workshops, the pupils also tried some authentic German food which was supplied by the supermarket Lidl. At the end of the event, the pupils presented key facts about their chosen country and winners were judged by Ed Chappel of the Goethe-Institut.
