Why not organise your own Think German project?

Coinciding with the 20th Anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, this project comprised a series of events in conjunction with the Leeds International Film Festival to celebrate the rediscovery of German Cinema by international audiences over the last two decades. This involved the screening of a series of films at the Leeds International Film Festival, each introduced by a member of the project and followed by a discussion, a one-day workshop focussed on the changing nature of Heimat in contemporary German cinema, and a conference panel on potential collaborations between Leeds film scholars and the regional industry.

People involved: Paul Cooke, Chris Homewood, Thomas Jochum, Kara McKechnie, Frank Finlay, Lucia Nagib, David Cooper, Alasdair King

Location: Various cinemas in Leeds and at the Howard Assembly Rooms, Opera North, Leeds.
Organisers: The overall project was organised by the Department of German at the University of Leeds. The Heimat event was coordinated by the School of Performance and Culture Industries at Leeds.
