On 3 July 2009, Germany came to Farnborough as pupils took part in a German themed day which covered the whole curriculum.
As part of the annual Language Day event, pupils in various lessons found out about the culture, language, history and people of the German speaking countries. Areas of interest ranged from the Messerschmitt car of the 1950s to the symbols of Berlin. Even the canteen joined in by providing German-themed food!
In Science, students learnt about German technological innovations; in Food Technology students had the chance to taste traditional German food, and in Languages those who normally study French or Spanish learnt some German. Everyone designed a Berlin Bear. The day was a great success in enabling stereotypes to be challenged and new, interesting facts to be learnt.
