The European Commission is one of the EU institutions. We are an international organisation and we offer career opportunities for administrators and assistants in any subject field (languages, law, finance, engineering, management, political science...).
Our headquarters are in Brussels and Luxembourg but we also have offices around the world. Our employees are recruited following an open competition and have the status of civil servants. We also offer internships to university graduates from the whole EU twice a year (in March and October) and applications are submitted online.
In the EU we have 23 official languages but our internal working languages in the European Commission are English, German and French. This means that any person wishing to work for us needs to have at least one of these three languages as his/her first foreign language. So, English mother tongue candidates need to be proficient in German or French in order to be eligible for our competitions.
